Trasna Holdings, a prominent player in IoT communications, has significantly bolstered its capabilities in the rapidly evolving Internet of Things (IoT) sector by acquiring Workz, a leading provider of cloud-based eSIM solutions. This strategic move positions Trasna as a major contender in the mobile IoT technology landscape, encompassing SIM, eSIM, and System-on-Chip (SoC) innovations.

Trasna, headquartered in Ireland with operations spanning across Europe, is renowned for its semiconductor expertise and SoC solutions. The acquisition of Workz, a Dubai-based company, introduces a wealth of experience in eSIM and SIM hardware and software. Workz’s offerings include advanced over-the-air services, manufacturing, and data management. In 2021, Workz made headlines by launching the first certified cloud-based eSIM management service, a platform that now supports over 150 network operators globally. This achievement was recognised by Counterpoint Research as a significant advancement in the industry.

The timing of this acquisition aligns with a transformative period in the cellular IoT market. The industry is witnessing a shift from traditional SIM cards to more advanced eSIM and emerging iSIM (integrated SIM) technologies. The growing demand for next-generation SIM solutions is driven by the rise of IoT and 5G technologies. According to Counterpoint Research, the shipment of devices equipped with embedded or integrated SIM technology is projected to surpass 9 billion by 2030. Trasna’s acquisition of Workz is strategically designed to seize this burgeoning market opportunity.

Stephane Fund, CEO of Trasna Holdings, expressed his enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “I am delighted to welcome Workz to the Trasna group. Workz is renowned for its innovation and agility, qualities that we have long admired and experienced in our partnership over the years. This merger is a perfect alignment that greatly enhances our IoT offerings. By creating a comprehensive end-to-end supply chain, we are poised to achieve our goal of becoming a market leader in the mobile IoT sector. This development marks an exciting future for both Trasna and our customers.”

Trasna Holdings’ acquisition of Workz represents a strategic enhancement of its portfolio, setting the stage for substantial growth and innovation in the IoT market. With the integration of Workz’s cutting-edge eSIM solutions and Trasna’s robust semiconductor capabilities, the combined entity is well-positioned to lead the charge in the next generation of mobile IoT technologies.
