Hikvision achieves TÜV Rheinland Green Product Mark as first in LED display industry

Hikvision, a global leader in video surveillance and display technology, has become the first company in the LED display industry to receive TÜV Rheinland’s prestigious Green Product Mark certification. Sixteen of the company’s LED display products were awarded the certification, reflecting their adherence to strict environmental standards. TÜV Rheinland, a German company with over 150 years of experience in certification and a member of the UN Global Compact, is recognised for its commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.

The certification, based on the 2 PfG E 0052/06.2024 standard, highlights Hikvision’s compliance with stringent environmental criteria. The products awarded this distinction include the CW and BW series, which cover a variety of mainstream packaging technologies. Each product passed rigorous assessments in several key areas, including technical compliance, the use of restricted substances, carbon footprint, and recyclability. This certification marks an important milestone in the LED display industry, setting a new benchmark for sustainability.

Hikvision’s approach to product design and manufacturing has been grounded in green principles. The company uses eco-friendly materials, optimises designs for efficiency, and implements intelligent manufacturing processes to reduce environmental impact. Notably, up to 90% of the aluminium used in the casings of these LED products is recycled, and all packaging is made from 100% recycled materials. These efforts have helped Hikvision significantly cut down on waste across its production processes.

The latest generation of Hikvision’s LED products incorporates advanced energy-saving technologies, including flip-chip packaging, common cathode driving, and intelligent power systems. These innovations are designed to reduce carbon emissions in what is traditionally a high-energy-consuming industry. As a result, the products achieve a notable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, making them stand out in the market.

Despite their strong environmental credentials, the LED displays have not compromised on quality. They feature proprietary display control systems, which ensure stability and safety. The products also utilise dynamic energy-saving algorithms that automatically adjust brightness depending on image details, reducing energy consumption while enhancing image clarity and providing a comfortable viewing experience.

This TÜV Rheinland certification reinforces Hikvision’s long-standing commitment to sustainable practices. The company has consistently invested in green innovation, incorporating sustainable design elements such as automation, modularity, and recyclability into its products. Hikvision’s focus on sustainability spans the entire product lifecycle, from raw materials to end-of-life disposal, ensuring that its products meet green requirements at every stage.

Hikvision’s production capabilities are substantial, with automated manufacturing facilities in Hangzhou and Wuhan that produce over 500,000 square metres of LED display screens annually. The company also operates seven laboratories that carry out extensive tests, covering everything from environmental impact to safety regulations, ensuring the products can perform reliably in a range of conditions.

Looking ahead, Hikvision aims to continue embedding sustainability into its operations, further promoting social responsibility alongside business growth. The company remains dedicated to integrating green innovation into its product development and manufacturing processes.
