Elegoo, a leading innovator in smart manufacturing, has revealed that pre-orders for its eagerly awaited Centauri Carbon will begin at 9 AM EST on 17 February 2025. This highly anticipated model marks the company’s debut in the CoreXY FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) 3D printer market and is poised to offer both beginners and professionals a faster, more reliable 3D printing experience.

The Centauri Carbon is designed to deliver high-quality prints at impressive speeds, with the company promising improved performance over its previous Neptune series. With a print volume of 256 × 256 × 256 mm, the Centauri Carbon caters to both home and professional users, allowing for quick and precise 3D prints. Its family-friendly design features rounded corners and an enclosed structure, making it safer for households with children and pets. The printer is also easy to set up, arriving fully assembled and ready for immediate use out of the box.

Elegoo has equipped the Centauri Carbon with a range of cutting-edge features to enhance usability. A built-in filter helps remove harmful gases during the printing process, promoting a healthier home environment. Dual glass panels provide clear visibility of ongoing prints, while a side-mounted filament holder offers added convenience. Additionally, the flexible magnetic plate features two surfaces: a PLA-specific side and a textured PEI surface, both designed to improve print adhesion and ensure easy removal of finished prints.

One of the standout features of the Centauri Carbon is its durability. The printer is built with a robust, automotive-grade die-cast frame, reinforced by aluminium alloy pillars and stainless steel side panels, ensuring stability and exceptional print quality. It is also designed to print with abrasive materials such as carbon fibre, with hardened nozzles capable of handling demanding materials like PLA-CF, ABS, ASA, PETG, and TPU.

The Centauri Carbon stands out in the speed department, with a maximum print speed of 500 mm/s and acceleration reaching 20,000 mm/s². According to Elegoo, a smartphone stand can be printed in just 30 minutes. The printer’s automatic bed levelling system, powered by four pressure sensors and a proprietary algorithm, ensures flawless first-layer prints by automatically correcting uneven surfaces. This eliminates the need for manual bed calibration and reduces issues like warping.

Additional features include custom firmware with Wi-Fi connectivity, time-lapse video functionality for monitoring prints, built-in chamber lighting for visibility in low-light conditions, and a user-friendly 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen. The Centauri Carbon also comes with vibration compensation and pressure advance optimisation for smoother printing and reduced model ripples.

Elegoo has confirmed that the Centauri Carbon will be available for pre-order on its website on 17 February 2025, with full details on pricing and availability expected to be revealed at that time.

Known for its successful resin-based printers like the Saturn and Mars series, Elegoo’s foray into the CoreXY FDM market with the Centauri Carbon represents a significant expansion of its product portfolio, promising to provide a high-performance, reliable solution for 3D printing enthusiasts across the globe.
