Global technology brand HONOR has introduced a new AI-powered feature called Circle to Search, available on its flagship HONOR Magic V3 and HONOR 200 Series smartphones. The latest innovation allows users to conduct intuitive and seamless searches by circling or highlighting content on their screens. The feature is designed to enhance user convenience by delivering an improved search experience without switching apps.
The announcement is part of HONOR’s ongoing collaboration with Google, which aims to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) technology into everyday smartphone functions. The Magic V3, billed as the world’s slimmest inward-folding smartphone, and the 200 Series are now equipped with Circle to Search, allowing users to instantly search for information related to text, images, or videos displayed on their screens.
A Seamless AI-Driven Search Experience
George Zhao, CEO of HONOR, explained how AI is transforming how people interact with their devices. “Enhancements in AI are changing the way we work, learn, shop, create, and interact with technology. Whether you need help translating a phrase, completing homework, or discovering more about an image you’ve seen on social media, our smartphones are now our go-to tools for gathering information,” Zhao said.
Zhao also stressed the brand’s human-centred approach to technology. “As a human-centric technology brand, HONOR is committed to ensuring everyone can benefit from AI advancements. Our close collaboration with Google has enabled us to bring this intuitive feature to two of our most popular smartphone ranges, making it possible to unlock a world of information with just a few taps.”
HONOR’s AI Journey
HONOR has long recognised the pivotal role of AI in shaping future technologies. The company has prioritised AI in its research and development, aiming to build an AI ecosystem that enhances user experience while maintaining strict security and privacy standards. Earlier this year, the company introduced its Four-layer AI Architecture, a model that combines on-device AI and cloud AI, ensuring secure data handling and offering a hybrid approach to AI-powered services.
HONOR’s journey in AI integration has also focused on addressing health and safety concerns. The Magic V3 features AI Defocus Eye Protection Technology, which reduces eye strain, and AI Deepfake Detection Anti-Fraud Technology, aimed at protecting users from deceptive online content.
AI-Powered Productivity Tools
Launched at the IFA 2024 trade show, the HONOR Magic V3 has been equipped with several AI-driven tools designed to improve productivity. These include the AI Eraser, which allows users to remove unwanted elements from images, and Face to Face Translation, which offers real-time language translation. HONOR Notes, another feature, helps users organise their tasks and manage their time effectively.
In addition, HONOR has introduced its AI Defocus Eye Protection Technology, the first of its kind in the industry, and AI Deepfake Detection Anti-Fraud Technology, providing enhanced safety and health features.
The HONOR Magic V3 also comes with MagicOS 8.0.1, featuring the Magic Portal and Magic Capsule, designed to improve human-device interaction through AI-driven technology.
