Telenor Group, one of the leading providers of communication services in the Nordics and Asia, has announced a major partnership with Google Cloud as part of its AI-First strategy. The collaboration aims to revolutionise how Telenor manages and utilises its data, with a view to improving customer experience, enhancing product development, and streamlining operations.
As Telenor continues its transformation into a technology-driven organisation, the partnership will see the implementation of Google Cloud’s extensive data and analytics solutions. At the heart of this transformation is the creation of a new data orchestration platform named Nova, which will harmonise Telenor’s on-premises data platforms across its Nordic businesses into a single cloud-native system.
Harnessing Data and AI for Hyper-Personalisation
Telenor’s decision to partner with Google Cloud will enable the company to harness the full potential of data and artificial intelligence (AI) within its operations. According to Telenor, this move will allow for hyper-personalised customer experiences and optimised network operations, ultimately supporting the company’s commitment to operational excellence.
Central to this transformation is the use of Google Cloud’s BigQuery, integrated with Vertex AI and Looker, which will play a pivotal role in shifting Telenor’s existing data platforms to the cloud. This will enable the company to more effectively manage its data resources, providing insights faster and more efficiently than ever before.
Telenor’s Group Chief Technology Officer, Amol Phadke, highlighted the importance of the new initiative: “Data is foundational to AI development and enterprise transformation. We are excited to partner with Google Cloud to unleash the full power of our data to better serve our customers, increase the speed of insight and innovation, and support our AI-First ambitions.”
Real-Time Data Tools for Faster Insights
In addition to BigQuery, Telenor will leverage other tools from Google Cloud’s data and analytics portfolio. These include Dataflow, Cloud Data Fusion, Pub/Sub, Dataform, and Dataplex, which will enable Telenor to process and analyse large volumes of data in real time. This shift is expected to drastically reduce the time required to generate analytical insights, with Telenor promising results in minutes rather than days.
The real-time capabilities provided by these tools will allow the company to make data-driven decisions quickly, improving agility and responsiveness across its operations. From customer-facing services to internal network optimisation, Telenor’s use of AI and real-time analytics is set to transform how the company operates.
Strengthening a Strategic Partnership
Eva Fors, Managing Director of Google Cloud Nordic Region, emphasised the strategic importance of this partnership. “Our deepened partnership with Telenor is a testament to the shared vision and trust we’ve built together. We are excited to provide a unified data and analytics platform that will help streamline Telenor operations across the Nordics.”
The collaboration between Telenor and Google Cloud highlights the growing role of AI and cloud technology in modern telecommunications. As Telenor moves further into the digital age, the company believes that the partnership will position it to stay ahead of competitors while delivering superior services to customers.
With the full implementation of the Nova platform, Telenor aims to enhance its capabilities in data governance and AI-driven innovation, solidifying its position as a leader in the Nordic telecom sector.
